Inspiring Video

Found this on youtube and thought it was amazing: Enjoy :D

TV Shows: 1 day and 14 hours Left

Dear Readers,

Just got my first "freak out moment" about leaving. I said goodbye to just about all my family and friends today. I feel like I'm leaving for College ahead of everyone else.

It's 11 pm and I need to go to bed but I just want to veg out and watch old Nickelodeon Cartoons.

My favorite is most definitely Hey Arnold. If you haven't watched it, I suggest you do. It'll make you lol for realz. Also, I think its important to mention that Helga (in the picture) had a big influence in my life. :) She taught me how to be a tomboy.

P.S. Did anyone know there was an anime Hey Arnold??

Anyways, Conan just came on, and he's too funny to ignore. For example, here's a video from an interview Conan had with Anne Hathaway. It may disturb you :}

Thanks for reading!

Home from Texas: 5 Days and 13 hours

Dear Readers,

Today was stressful. Leaving a wonderful place like San Antonio is awful, but as the Disney Channel's Meet the Robinson's taught me: "Keep Moving Forward!" Totally corny. Totally inspiring.

Especially when you need to prepare your house for renters, clean clean clean, and pack for a year.

Went shopping after I came home today with Rache (friend). The destinations of choice included Walmart, Walmart, and Kmart. You could say we're classy girls. My mission was to find a pair of "summer" pajamas, and an international adapter.

Thankfully I found both.

The PJ's were only $6 from the grandma section. Who wouldn't splurge for that deal???

Texas Shopping: 6 Days and 13 hours until Oman

Went shopping for souvenirs for the host family. I can't tell you what I bought because then it would ruin the surprise since I'm sure they're reading. :) What's more important however, is that I got this super awesome penny bracelet. Oh yea. Too bad they charged me a buck per penny. Trust me I tried haggling. The poor latino woman just looked at me and in desperation explained: "I just work here.. I don't even know how much the thing costs. Would you like to buy a candy bar?" Totally not what I was going for SeƱorita, but yea I would like that candy bar.

Hard Rock Cafe

Dear Readers,

Went to the Hard Rock Cafe tonight. Twas a rockin. (It rocked!). I split a wonderful veggie burger with my Mother while enjoying the company of her colleagues, Bret and Julie.
We started the night by establishing our favorite artists and genres, and so on. We discussed our views on whether Elvis died in his prime or at a time that would make the public overlook the grampa persona he was acquiring, therefore creating an everlasting King of Rock image of himself (despite his decline in looks, and drug use).

That's me in the picture there by the way. No I'm not the cool one :/.

Earthquake Day!!

Dear Readers,

I am from the East Coast, so you may understand why earthquakes seem foreign to the majority of its citizens. After spending my morning walking around the Alamo and shopping for long skirts for Oman, I came back to the hotel to be bombarded with calls from home. After talking to my step-mom on the phone, I called my brother who is also at home to hear what the conditions were at our house.

"Ben, Ben! How is the house?"

"Hey what's up."

"Ben, is the house okay??"

"What?"

"Is the house okay?"

"Mumble Mumble"

"Ben!"

"What?"

"There was an EARTHQUAKE."

"Is THAT what that was?!?"

"Yes! Did you check on the house??"

"I thought there was a robber er something so I ran downstairs..."

"Ben check on the house and text Mom and I back."

"..........I'm on my way to work."

Patience is a virtue, but so is one's heed!

Texas Trip! 9 Days Until Departure

Dear Readers,
There are 9 days, 14 hours until I leave for Oman. I'm sitting in my hotel room in San Antonio, Texas watching theEDshow. It's too bad ED is so unpleasant looking. Otherwise I might take him more seriously.

Today was fun. My mother and I left Wilkes-Barre Scranton (the Office) Airport around noon. The purpose of our trip is simply to spend time together. My mother is a traveling consultant with lots of frequent flier miles. Because our flight was delayed there was a possibility we would be shipped to Chicago and have to spend the night.  ChicagoQuick fact: The population of Oman is equivalent to Chicago's. About 3 million. Unfortunately our flight was on time, a rare occasion irritatingly reserved for an inopportune time.

I made use of my flight by reading a "Guide to the The Presidential Election". Though, because it was written by the LWV (Some sort of government funded union), half of it is trying to tell me not to pay attention to the news. How am I supposed to get any info. on the candidates without the mass media, which they put the majority of their funding into? I suppose their argument has some reason in it. Most of what's on news broadcasts such as theEdshow is a whole bunch of Hoopla. But I still want some perspective.

We made it to Charlotte, NC, running to our connecting flight. The wheels on my carry-on were so loud on the walkways however, I must've awaken every poor soul sleeping on the floor of the airport waiting for their flights. Note to self- don't take the stentorian carry-on to Oman.

So we made it to Texas, got in a cab, listened to the Cabi talk about how he would fix the whole the recession himself by combining branches of the military, and walked around downtown drenched in 103 degree boiled sweat, looking for Sushi-Zushi. Found Sushi-Zushi. Ordered the TunaTower. Ate caviar! Ate wasabi. Downed three cups of water.

Thanks for reading! :)

First Post: Saturday Morning

It is 11:00 am on Saturday, August 20th, and there are 11 days and 13 hours left before I leave my Hometown for 10 months and go to Oman. Oman is a Middle Eastern country bordering Yemen, Saudi Arabia, and the U.A.E.. At the moment I'm Skyping with my friend Logan, who's going to Ghana in the same program. He's a little loopy since he just got his wisdom teeth out. Lowgee thinks his cheeks are abnormally large, so to make him feel better I complained about my own. Then he got mad and stuck his stuffed animal that looks like a lion into the camera for a good 5 minutes. Perhaps it would be funny to tell my host family this is how average american teens normally talk.

In a few minutes I'll be heading upstairs to start packing for Oman. Because the Airlines decided they hate their customers even more than before, we can no longer bring two checked luggages for free. The second one is a whopping $70.

 We'll see what happens.
